Abstracted Abstraction is a regional juried exhibition examining contemporary abstract art. Modern abstract art speaks to the contemporary spirit. The shapes and forms of abstract art vary from artist to artist, who each share their unique inner vision. The St. Louis Artists’ Guild seeks artists working in any medium whose work seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures. The artwork also dealing with abstraction is welcomed to give a broad view of contemporary abstract art.

I’ll be set up inside of Flood Plain Gallery at 3151 Cherokee Street, St. Louis, MO 63118. You’ll find me with framed and unframed encaustic monotypes, small encaustic works on cradled board, plus a few holiday items.
Print Bazaar on Cherokee Street is Saturday, December 7th from 10:00AM – 6:00PM and takes place inside over two-dozen businesses and venues along Cherokee Street, between Gravois and Lemp Avenue.
A small selection of my oil and cold wax paintings are on display during the month of December.
I create my paintings using an intuitive process of mark making, laying down color, masking, adding more color and more marks, and scraping to reveal layers below that have been obscured. Starting with a plan or a desired design intent is not how I begin a piece. Instead, I relay on play, exploration and discovery, as each piece begins to take on a life of its own.
I’m so excited to be asked to participate in this event again!
